I have the same problem with: - the same adapter: "Bus 003 Device 004: ID 067b:2305 Prolific Technology, Inc. PL2305 Parallel Port", - a HP Laserjet 6P, - since Ubuntu 11.10, and now under Ubuntu 12.04, - with two PCs, one with Ubuntu 12.04 32 bits, the other with Ubuntu 12.04 64 bits.
Note that I also use an USB switch to select which PC can print.
