Ubuntu 12.04 was a fresh installation (no upgrade). But yes, this bug happens also with former ubuntu versions. I've this problem also with my old computer (also nvidia graphic card).
And yes, there was a unbuntu version in the past where the boot splash was normal (on my old computer), but I don't know which one. Sorry, not very helpfull, I know. Maybe this has something to do with my problem, but the fix don't work for me: http://news.softpedia.com/news/How-to-Fix-the-Big-and-Ugly-Plymouth-Logo-in-Ubuntu-10-04-140810.shtml However, the /usr/share/doc/plymouth/README.Debian file means: "For nVidia and ATI users, the default "nouveau" and "radeon" drivers are Kernel Mode Setting enabled, but do not always provide 3D capability at the current time. By switching to using the restricted/non-free nvidia-glx or fglrx drivers, you will gain 3D capability at the loss of a high-color splash screen." -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/990244 Title: boot screen graphic destroyed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/990244/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
