Public bug reported:

After upgrading to ubuntu 12.04, my VAIO VGN-SR (ATI graphics card)
ended in a broken state. Symptoms are:

- Login screen with broken icons (white sheet with an x).
- No mouse/trackpad input. Neither bluetooth nor usb.
- After login, background is black. Unity icons are all gray. The window
decorator seems to be broken (no menus in windows)
- It's been impossible to use ubuntu-bug. I can't get a focus on a terminal or
on the window after launching the app.
- ctrl+alt+F1-F6 get's me a black screen (no terminal)

Please, I need to recover this system. I also have a Thinkpad which
upgraded smoothly.
