More information on this matter. I am using the current 12.04 release
and all is working fine as long as I don't use mumble. my previous
comments about battery vs. wall-power doesn't seem to hold water any
more.

One way I managed to get this bug to rear its ugly head is by using
Mumble. Mumble seems to trigger something in the stack that causes
this issue.

I would like to know how can I find out if the Wireless card is doing
(other than watching syslog, which shows nothing). I need to track
the wifi kernel module activity and power state.

Any help is appreciated.

BTW, the problem persists in 3.4rc3 (much worse to be frank) so I want
to nail it because using Mumble on calls is a bit of a crap shoot now.
