I am experiencing similar problems with a Soyntec Nexoos 395 hub. I'm working with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS 64 bits with AMD processor. Previously I had a cheap USB 1.1 hub working fine. Now, when attaching a USB drive or a device there are intermittent communication problems, so I have to select a USB port out of the hub.
