Public bug reported: >From time to time I run into problems like nautilus reverting to its default settings (and not saving new settings). The problem is always the gconf2-d daemon. I can quickly solve the problem like this ...
killall -HUP gconfd-2 killall nautilus ... after that nautilus will start up using the custom settings. This bug has been around for a while. I submitted it for Debian (http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=647408) in november 2011 and more recently for Fedora (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=808757). Note that gconf2-d does not crash. It keeps running - but apparently does not do a lot more than that. I have never been able to trigger this behaviour. It just happens from time to time - say every two hours or so. regards, JS ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: gconf-service-backend 3.2.5-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-23.36-generic 3.2.14 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-23-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu5 Architecture: amd64 Date: Tue Apr 24 12:52:56 2012 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.04 LTS "Precise Pangolin" - Beta amd64 (20120327.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en TERM=xterm PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: gconf UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: gconf (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987769 Title: gconf2-d stops working (but keeps running) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gconf/+bug/987769/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
