Indeed, if you add the acer-wmi kernel module into the blacklist, then
the WiFi works.

However, adding the module to the blacklist is not a solution but rather a 
workaround.
We do not expect users of these laptops to figure out they have to edit 
configuration files.

What I believe should be done is for acer-wmi not to load when the laptop is a 
Sony,
as there is already a sony-laptop.ko kernel module.
