Hi Ahmed, Thanks for reporting this bug. As you mention, this is a very common bug that many, many people run into (see bug #3731, which is the master bug report for this issue.) One of the fixes we're working on is basically what you've described - a GUI xorg configuration tool. This will be available from the System menu, and will also pop up post-install if the installer produced an invalid xorg.conf. You can see a preview of this latter functionality here: http://people.ubuntu.com/~bryce/BulletProofX/. If you'd be interested in helping in testing this new functionality, it would be valuable. You would need to install Gutsy and then install the displayconfig-gtk package. Any problems you find (or ideas for improvement) can then be reported to the displayconfig-gtk package in launchpad. ** This bug has been marked a duplicate of bug 3731 Xorg resolution falling back to 640x480 and/or 800x600 when h/v freqs incorrect -- Display not configured with proper resolutions on install https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/119458 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Kubuntu Team, which is a subscriber of a duplicate bug (via bug 3731). -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
