It must be added in 12.04 by release. This should've been marked as critical. In reality, it means a new user can't play music or video. I'm supposed to send out demo videos to journalists so they can see how easy it is to use and write about it in time for release. But I just can't do that until this is fixed. So it's really a blocker to me.
