When I encountered this situation, Apport reports this as a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/947119, a bug that I can't find.
My ~/.local is owned by the correct user. However, ~/.config/menus is not, that is root owned. The only entry in ~/.config/menus/ is a directory "applications-merged". The ~/.config/menus/applications-merged/ directory contains a single (zero-byte) file (also owned by root): xdg-desktop-menu-dummy.menu. After chown -R on ~/.config/ the Main Menu application starts fine. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/95840 Title: Edit Menus closes Main Menu unexpectedly To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alacarte/+bug/95840/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
