I met the same problem about two weeks ago. "sudo eclipse" helped that time and it worked fine. Today I met the problem again but "sudo eclipse" did not help this time. I have no idea why it stoppet to work. I don't remember I did any changes in the meantime. Maybe I updated all precise packages to latest versions. I tried to purge all eclipse configuration, purge the packeges and install them again but nothing helped. Including the log file that is generated during the eclipse start.
