Public bug reported: My HDD failed and I'm using an older replacement HDD to get my machine back up. I ran the installer once, when it was done I removed the CD and re-booted the machine. I interrupted the boot process to change the sequence back to the HDD, and let the process complete. When the machine came back up it had a "Load Error" message in the top left corner of the screen, and that was all. I tried to re-boot the machine again, and it came up with the same error.
I re-started the machine again, interrupted the sequence again so that it would boot from the CD-ROM. Once the machine was running on the CD I tried to re-install the OS. About half way though (or so) is when I got the OS Crashed message. -Robert ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: ubiquity 2.8.7 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 CasperVersion: 1.287 Date: Mon Apr 16 21:45:31 2012 LiveMediaBuild: Ubuntu 11.10 "Oneiric Ocelot" - Release i386 (20111012) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE= PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SourcePackage: ubiquity UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: ubiquity (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 oneiric ubiquity-2.8.7 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/983654 Title: Installer Crashed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/983654/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
