I´ve switched from kernel head kernel-desktop-3.0.0-4.1.x86_64 to kernel
kernel-desktop-3.0.0-38.1.x86_64 from tumbleweed, which causes some problmes.
Virtalbox(the ..38.1 module for VB4.1 was also installed) was not able to start
any guest and I get a break in my internet connection after some minutes(ath9k
for my TPLINK),, so whatever you´ve done to kernel-desktop-3.0.0-38.1.x86_64 it
is not recommend.
I´ve switched back(multi kernel system) to kernel-desktop-3.0.0-4.1.x86_64 and
all worls again very smooth.

Some logs will be attached, when you missing something, please contact
me.

Ok, thanks. It's clear now what it does:
ath: Unable to reset channel (2462 MHz), reset status -5
ath: Unable to reset channel (2462 MHz), reset status -5
ath: Could not kill baseband RX
ath: Unable to reset channel (2412 MHz), reset status -5

It's still unclear to me why it happens though.

Ideally, if you could reproduce with kernel-vanilla:
http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/vanilla/standard/
and report to upstream developers either via bugzill.kernel.org (after
kernel.org is turned back to life) or directly via atheros list:
ath9k-de...@lists.ath9k.org

This bug is back on openSUSE12.1 with kernel 3.1.0 in full hight, like

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So what I´ve done is to set debugging for ath9k on in openSUSE 12.1 with
/usr/scr/linux ~ make menuconfig

like it is described on :

http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/ath9k/debug

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It was catastrophic for my wireless connection -> after a newstart with
vanilla kernel3.1.0 wireless connection breaks completely on start.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another newstart with desktop kernel3.1.0 has the same consequences.->no
wireless on start.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to keep it on this bugtacker for now until it is a little
bit more clearer what it could be -> hope this is o.k for you.

Ahaha,
I´ve located it, well ... better.

I´ve installed openSUSE12.1 now for several times.

In principle this bug is a bug for ath9k by itself, because it is
unstable also on fedora15, fedora16, ubuntu11.4 and ubuntu11.10(I´ve all
seen an bare hardware) and -this is the point- without virtualbox
installations!

BUT: When I do virtulabox installations(don´t know why I did not see
that before!?), the stability of ath9k decreases dramatically, such to a
state were wireless network is useless.

The think is:

It´s mostly up to virtualbox developers to handle this, because they
have old hard bugs there which affect also the windows platform. This
shows that it is a problem which their network implementation and not so
of any kernel.

Beside of this also the kernel should not allow a program to corrupt the
whole network.
