Thanks Sebasiten, I already thought something was deinstalled.
The strange thing is I did not do a 'dist-upgrade' and I did not deliberately deinstall any packages. That's what I find so strange and caused me to file a bug. The only thing I did daily was installing all updates. But as nobody else has this issue, let's assume that something went wrong during those multitude of updates. At least now I know which package to reinstall...;-) You also happen to know the name of the calendar indicator? It is not listed under the 'indicators' in the 'Software Center'.
