This happened again today, and it seems it's not related to apt-cache
itself (sorry). It runs slowly and consumes heaps of CPU, but so does
everything else. This time I even saw vim take over 60% cpu while
starting, as well as multiple postgres processes etc., so it seems
related to the system itself - just wish I knew how to find out what.

If there's anything I can do to give more info, pls let me know.
