So I retied with the Xubuntu Alternate Install CD 6.06 this time and chose to
intall in Text Mode.
The computer gives a warning that it is "Entering Low Memory Mode."
After choosing country (USA), it strangely fail to automatically detect that
there was a American English keyboard.
(It thought there was none.)
The next stage "Detect and Mount CD-ROM" is where it fails. (It fails with 6.10
and 7.04 as well.)
It states that the installation CD could not be mounted and the computer thinks
maybe the CD is not in the drive.
It asks for me to insert the disk and try again I do so, but the CD wont mount.

** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: debian-installer

Try to install Xubuntu (I tried 6.10 and 7.04) on a Gateway Astro. It
