Yes I did, Julian.  I always go through the same sequence when I set up
ndiswrapper, I've learned enough of how to use it to know when I miss
stuff :)   I always install the driver first, assign it to the device ID
next, then run -m  -ma  and -mi to set it up properly and create an
alias , whenever I add a new device.

This device however was already set up prior to my upgrade to precise,
and a reinstall using my normal procedure has not produced any
alternative results.  It still fails to pick up as an interface until I
unload ndiswrapper, unplug the device, reload ndiswrapper and then
replug the device.  Then, it finds wlan0.
