This was fixed on 8 Feb 2012 as a side effect of Conor merging in the pk
api port branch and remove the apt transaction code in
<http://bazaar.launchpad.net/~indicator-applet-developers/indicator-
session/trunk.0.4/revision/237>.

Retroactively assigning this ticket to Conor so that he picks up the
credit for the fix :)

I'm closing this ticket because the bug is fixed in the latest
development version of Ubuntu - Precise Pangolin. If you need a fix for
the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please follow the instructions
