I experienced this problem (apparently, although I do not recall it since it was a while ago), and I can confirm that the problem is gone in Oneiric, and also the Precise testing releases I have used. In fact, as a little side-note, Precise seems to be working better than Oneiric did - a problem I had with the headphones port on my laptop is fixed, for example. It's nice to see devs working to close bugs. :)
