Public bug reported: Since recent updates for Ubuntu 11.10 with KDE 4.8 backports PPA (yesterday) I experience random X crashes.
So far it occurred only while I was running Firefox on KDE with flashplayer plugin showing some streaming video. I have a T-series Lenovo Notebook with Intel GM965 graphics. The backtrace from /var/log/Xorg.0.log.old is Backtrace: [ 38377.053] 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x37) [0x80a66f7] [ 38377.053] 1: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x62b3a) [0x80aab3a] [ 38377.053] 2: (vdso) (__kernel_rt_sigreturn+0x0) [0xb773640c] [ 38377.053] 3: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/librecord.so (0xb725d000+0x212f) [0xb725f12f] [ 38377.053] 4: /usr/bin/X (_CallCallbacks+0x3c) [0x80769ec] [ 38377.053] 5: /usr/bin/X (WriteToClient+0x273) [0x80a95a3] [ 38377.053] 6: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri2.so (ProcDRI2WaitMSCReply+0x70) [0xb724dd70] [ 38377.053] 7: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libdri2.so (DRI2WaitMSCComplete+0x73) [0xb724c003] [ 38377.053] 8: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0xb71e7000+0x22a0b) [0xb7209a0b] [ 38377.053] 9: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0xb71e7000+0x7af3) [0xb71eeaf3] [ 38377.053] 10: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libdrm.so.2 (drmHandleEvent+0xce) [0xb722d9ee] [ 38377.053] 11: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers/intel_drv.so (0xb71e7000+0x7b57) [0xb71eeb57] [ 38377.053] 12: /usr/bin/X (WakeupHandler+0x53) [0x8076243] [ 38377.053] 13: /usr/bin/X (WaitForSomething+0x1a5) [0x80a3fa5] [ 38377.053] 14: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x29ed2) [0x8071ed2] [ 38377.053] 15: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x1c70c) [0x806470c] [ 38377.053] 16: /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xf3) [0xb73db113] [ 38377.053] 17: /usr/bin/X (0x8048000+0x1ca21) [0x8064a21] [ 38377.053] Segmentation fault at address 0xc000d08 [ 38377.053] Caught signal 11 (Segmentation fault). Server aborting Since the update included a new version of flashplayer I manually returned to an older flashplayer version which I was running successfully since a while furthermore I updated the Intel drivers using deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/glasen/intel-driver/ubuntu oneiric main. I know that this is more a bug report than a question. In fact Random X crashes in Ubuntu 11.04 looks similar and has been closed. But this bug seems to exist since a year and I would like to know whether its actually the same or if the issue is generally known/maybe considered solved. ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/976144 Title: Random xserver crashes after recent updates To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/976144/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
