Had same problem on 11.10. Went to printers, properties for the printer, settings, make and model: change, selected HP, then forward, and I noticed it was set to 7700, so I changed it to 7760 photo (though I only have the 7760), and the job it was freezing up on beforehand printed fine after the change.
