Thanks for the quick reply! The first option (altering /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf) just removed all my sound.
The second option is a slight improvement - now my laptop speakers work, and when I plug my earphones into the output the laptop speakers are muted, and alsamixer seems to be giving the right names to the right channels. However, there is still no sound coming out of my earphones at all. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/971561 Title: [MacBook5,2, Realtek ALC889A, Green Headphone Out, Rear] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/971561/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
