Executing xrandr (without any or with options) will cure the desktop I attached a xorg.0 dmesg with boot parameter drm.debug=0x6. I patched the kernel with the patch included in this report to kernel 2.6.32 and 2.6.35, this fixed the bug. I did not find any side effects.
