Hi Christopher, I ran a quick test on my current installation, "Ubuntu 10.04.4 LTS", using kernel "2.6.32-40-generic", and again the computer hung at 1000 MHz, as described in the bug.
I will get a spare hard drive and retest with the latest Ubuntu release 11.10.
