So as I understand your comment the machine is locking up any time you try to write 0 or 1 to hci_backlight. Is that correct? If so, this isn't looking very promising.
Just fyi, the process of what happens when HCI_BACKLIGHT is written is completely opaque to us. The actual operations are handled by the computer's embedded controller, and we can't really see what it's doing. Writing 1 to HCI_BACKLIGHT has been reported to work on some machines, but if it turns out to be problematic on this one we may be stuck. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/935778 Title: Toshiba R840 - brightness controls work on first boot, but do nothing after suspend/resume To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/935778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
