It is no longer happening in Ubuntu 12.04 beta 24-mar-2012 Precise
Pangolin.  Actually, it never occurred in any beta version of 12.04.

To my knowledge, it was never resolved in Ubuntu 11.04.  If I stretch my
memory, I seem to recall that Ubuntu 11.10 also had this problem.

I am very surprised you cannot reproduce this issue.  As indicated in
comments # 4 and # 5, this always happens on those hardware platforms.
