I found out that in the event that the touchpad is not working, dmesg
shows this lines:

[    3.624972] Synaptics Touchpad, model: 1, fw: 8.0, id: 0x1e2b1, caps: 
0xd00123/0x840300/0x120c00 
[    3.666491] input: SynPS/2 Synaptics TouchPad as 
/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input7 

whilst it shows the device path as

/devices/platform/i8042/serio1/input/input12

whilst the touchpad is working correctly after boot.
Is there any way to maybe enforce the device enumeration?
