Well, I have not tried Daniels modules, as I said in my post, first I upgraded the kernel, but then after reading Grudko's post, I did what he said, and it worked. How Daniel's differ (if at all) I have no idea.
I suggest you do an sudo aptitude update sudo aptitude dist-upgrade Get yourself up to version 2.6.20-16, and report back.
