It is not installed now. > Not sure if we can call this a bug since most people using Kubuntu > will use the default KDE Print Manager instead of foomatic-gui. > Any reason why you use foomatic-gui (K -> System -> Printing) > instead of the KDE Print Manager (K -> Control Center -> > Peripherals -> Printers)? Not a clue why. Cups seemed to be the default. Is there a actual difference? One "better" than the other? How? I am trying to set Kubuntu to use a Brother MFC-3240C, which is connected to a win2k machine elsewhere on our LAN. Cups doesn't seem to know anything about that printer model. Would KDE Print Manager be able to install that printer - in that configuration - without me having to undertake a new course of study to learn "what's behind the curtain"? (I.E. Can I just Click & Go...? That seems to be the goal of Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Mybuntu/Whatever) cheers, johnd -- Kubuntu Feisty: foomatic-gui crashes https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/118496 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
