Public bug reported:

the wireless settings and the user interface may have room for
improvement.

first of all. i have no 'scan now for networks' button there. i can't
connect with a button in the menu because there are only 'connect to
hidden' and the 'create new wireless network' options available.

so before i read up on the ad-hoc networks i used to try to create the
'new' connection manually by creating a new one. the result is not what
i intended to. i created ad-hoc networks, wondering why my connection
wasn't working.. but now to something completely different.

i gave the ad-hoc features a try now. i have one device with external
wifi and internal wifi. so this device should connect to the
infrastructure and become a ad-hoc host at the same time. i have 2
different devices to try. internal wifi set up as ad-hoc. wpa2 personal.

now from other device - the ad-hoc network is not visible for some time
(no scan button there) - and when i try to connect. it can't connect.
but the ad-hoc network just appeared in the manager so i supposed it
should work then.

then i set up another ad-hoc network with wep 128 just to test if it's
functional that way. entered a password with no length limits (i'll
explain). then, from the other machine i tried to connect. funny. the
dialog now just allows a password with certain lengths! so i can't enter
the password i just specified. back to the ad-hoc host. now i
disconnected the ad-hoc host at the host. the network appears as a
normal network at the other device now (?) the last thing to wonder
about is the wireless new network creation (ad-hoc creation) dialog
which.. greys out all fields for an existing configuration. so I can't
just enter a new password for the stored - and not in use - 'new
network'. why do i have to create a new ad-hoc network if i want to
change the unusable password to another one?

AND why do all new networks i TRY to connect to have auto connect
enabled by default? and why does it reconnect sometimes even when i
manually disconnect from my network? auto connect is nice - but if i
tell my wifi to disconnect - it should just do that and nothing else
until i connect it again.

i consider these details to be bugs.
