With an up-to-date KDE it is possible to add a Samba printer using the 'Printer 
Configuration':
 * Click 'New Printer'
 * Choose 'Windows Printer via SAMBA'
 * Fill in the printer URL (and other details if required).

For me this works to use shared windows printers. Could you confirm this
solves your problem as well?
