Like others, I get this crash when I try to install the fglrx driver
with post-release updates (whatever that means).  I can install the
fglrx driver without these post-release updates, though.  With that
fglrx driver installed, I get this:

~# fglrxinfo
display: :0.0  screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 6550D
OpenGL version string: 4.1.11251 Compatibility Profile Context

and I can run Unity 3d and Gnome 3, which (as I understand it) require a
3d video driver.  I can also run the Catalyst control program.
