Thank you for reporting this bug, but I'm marking it as rejected: the kvm package does not actually depend on qemu - it is perfectly usable without qemu as long as you already have some VM images.
Furthermore, the kvm package already recommends qemu, which is the strongest non-essential dependency possible: sudo apt-get -s install kvm Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree Reading state information... Done The following extra packages will be installed: bridge-utils Suggested packages: debootstrap etherboot Recommended packages: kvm-source qemu vde2 The following NEW packages will be installed: bridge-utils kvm 0 upgraded, 2 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded. Feel free to report any further bugs you find. ** Changed in: kvm (Ubuntu) Status: Unconfirmed => Rejected -- kvm depends on qemu but apt-get doesn't install it automatically https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/117901 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
