This bug is pretty unusual... Initially, the 3+ finger gestures work on login; however, after another 20 seconds or so, they cease to work and cause the whole Desktop Environment to freeze. Although, even though the mouse pointer is still active and recognises text, buttons, etc... video, flash, and everything that underlays the mouse is frozen (sound still plays, however).
I've also found that after 5 minutes of the freeze (when the screensaver and lock kick in), Ubuntu automatically logs out. Logging back in allows you to repeat the process.
