I am not sure what you mean by installing the backtrace. Can you please read the wiki pages I linked to? I don't have time to repeat here what has been written in them. Did you find any file called /etc/X11/core ? Then you should run: sudo gdb /usr/bin/Xorg /etc/X11/core
