For those who really need the new kernel modules, but feel uncomfortable with the command line, I put together what I think is a "fool-proof" double-click-able installer script. It has a bunch of error checking so no harm should be done if trying. Maybe a bit of a overkill for this issue here, but I wrote it as a possible basis for other things as well.
1. Download the attached package 2. Double-click on the package to open the archive 3. Click "Extract" to unpack the archive 4. Double-click the newly created "drm-easy-installer" directory (probably on your desktop) 5. Double click on the "easy-module-installer" Just press Enter for the yes/no questions and enter your password when asked for it. Enjoy! Note: Downloading the current git today does not work on the current Feisty kernel. Therefore use the version that is shipped with the package, which is the same as in Joachim's post. If you download a "bad" version, just delete it again from the directory, otherwise it will be proposed as the newest candidate for building, instead of the old, working one. Of course, this is one of these third-party installer script your mother warned you about... ** Attachment added: "drm git rebuilding made easy - installer package" http://librarian.launchpad.net/7871368/drm-easy-installer.tgz -- No hardware rendering for "SuperSavage/IXC 64" and "Xorg 7.2" https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/88905 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
