Hibernation does NOT work neither with the binary nvidia driver nor with the nv open source. There are some differences though:
nvidia: 1. ScreenSaver launches for under a second 2. Screen goes black 3. Appears mouse cursor 4. Nothing else happens and the PC is still running nv: 1. Screen goes black 2. Unlock window appears on the screen 3. After unlock a pop-up msg in the lower left corner appears saying that there is some kind of error in HAL and hibernation is not successfull 4.
