I have now installed Wine again and it still depends on wine1.4-dev. But
the package wine1.4_1.4~rc5-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb doesn't contain a wine or
wine1.4 executable. Trying to install wine1.4-i386 gives out of the box
still an error message:

sworddragon@ubuntu:~/data$ sudo apt-get install wine1.4-i386

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
wine1.4-i386:i386 : Depends: libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 but it is not going to be

sudo apt-get install -f does nothing because all dependencies are
already met. So I have forced the installation of wine1.4-i386:

I have accepted this and all packages were installed with no problems
(except that apt has declared these packages for autoremoving (maybe
because wine1.4-i386 isn't "really" successfull installed)). After this
I have tried to install wine-i386 again but I got the same dependency
problem as above. I have forced the installation of wine1.4-i386 again
but apt-get install -f wants to remove it again (at least dpkg doesn't
claim now anymore about the other dependency problems that where listed
with the first dpkg installation that I have forced):

Abort.

As a short summary: If I force the installation of wine-i386 and installing the
:i386 packages that apt-get install -f wants to install I'm able to start 32
bit applications with wine. The only unsolved dependencies are:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
wine1.4-i386:i386 : Depends: libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 but it is not going to be
installed or
                              libgl1:i386
Depends: libglu1-mesa:i386 but it is not going to be
installed or
                              libglu1:i386

I'm even getting a warning if I'm trying to start Guild Wars:

Wine cannot find the ncurses library (libncurses.so.5).

Maybe this is a result of the dependecy problem.
