Your machine does support some of the interfaces that acer-wmi uses, so it's probably worthwhile to check whether or not acer-wmi is doing anything useful. Check the following paths and see if anything with acer in the name shows up.
/sys/class/leds /sys/class/backlight If there's something present you can test them to see whether or not they work; let me know if you need instructions on what to do. If acer- wmi is doing something useful then we can try to fix the rfkill problem. Does your machine happen to have a hotkey or switch to disable wireless, and if so is it working when acer-wmi is unloaded? It doesn't look like you'll have any hotkey support from acer-wmi as it is now, but there is an event interface that might be used for this purpose. Do the hotkeys on your machine currently work? If you wish to blacklist acer-wmi for now, add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf (or put it in a new file in the same directory): blacklist acer-wmi -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/938630 Title: Ubuntu loads acer-wmi on Sony laptop; WiFi not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/938630/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
