I think this is a dupe of #87422. Try the fix I suggested there. xevil-2.02r2-7 from the debian unstable archives.
Also, Dan. What do you mean that the license screen is "partially" removed? I thought I completely removed the forced license agreement before every play. I figure it was annoying, and innaccurate.
