I can confirm this. I just found this bug report (created the duplicate Bug #107845 first). The same happened for me probably after upgrading Dapper to Edgy, and it persisted after upgrade to Feisty. Apparently something goes wrong on some hardware/drive/partition setups during the upgrade from Dapper to Edgy.
