Thanks for the suggestion. I tried it: got to the 1st install screen,
selected Install or Run option, F6, then prepended acpi=off to the boot
command. The boot command looked like this: "acpi=off var1=val1
var2=val2 ... --". Running with this command unfortunately caused the
same exact problem - in both ver 7.04 and 6.10. I am attaching the 6.10
screen shot.
