Brian - sorry, my misunderstanding about the status fields. I want to change this to closed but I can't see that as an option. I wiped and reset the partition and did a fresh install of 11.10 from a LiveCD.
Although 11.10 with 3.0.0.15-generic loads and works well, it does usually crash on start up from Grub2. In fact, it locks the computer completely. This problem seems to be fairly well recorded on the forum, though I haven't seen a fix for it. It appears that the kernel doesn't load and then Grub returns a bad partition error. After a reboot or two 11.10 loads and so far seems to work very well. I don't believe this is a hardware issue as the system is fairly new and Windows 7 loads fine each time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/920412 Title: Install of 11.10 crashes - clean partition, old 11.04 removed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ubiquity/+bug/920412/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
