Well, the fact that ifupdown would ignore the return code in the past
was a bug of the 0.7 branch (possibly some 0.6 versions too), so no I
doubt upstream will re-introduce the bug to "fix" some scripts.

The logging will be enable by the time we release 12.04 so I don't see
any need to spend days implementing something similar in ifupdown.
