I too have the same problem, I noticed the same output when trying to
load pulseaudio in verbose. I got my playstation eye's microphone to
show up in the list of cards/devices (although not attatch to the mixer)
by disabling the udev-loader in pulseaudio as found in this post
http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=7900438&postcount=10:

comment /etc/pulse/default.pa file to:

### Automatically load driver modules depending on the hardware available
#.ifexists module-udev-detect.so
#load-module module-udev-detect
#.else
### Alternatively use the static hardware detection module (for systems that
### lack udev support)
load-module module-detect
#.endif

This leads me to believe this is a problem with pulseaudio and udev..
