Thanks Mark, However the solution above works only once the mirrors were synced up with the new package. Only an experienced user would have know how to retrieve the older version and run dpkg -i by hand to downgrade (I happen to be one of them). I find it a little hard to believe that you folks couldn't have caught this prior to releasing. That being said my card was an ATI PowerColour 9250. Note however that the problem also occurred for a generic internal intel agp card that's part of the motherboard.
