I can't say for sure, because this bug only triggers about once a week
for me; I can't reproduce it on demand. However, the machine was
completely responsive to mouse movement, alt+tab, and manipulating the
drag handles, so it seems very likely that the shortcut that is supposed
to stop it would work.

Are there steps I can take the next time it happens to help you figure
out why this is happening?
