This is needed pretty badly. It's already standard behavior on other
desktops to automagically enable a tray icon indicating the current
layout if multiple layouts are loaded (or at least provide the option to
enable such an icon in the same dialog where the layouts are
configured). As it is, having more than one layout listed in the
Keyboard -> Layout section of the Settings Manager doesn't get you
anything more than having just the first one.

I was setting up Xubuntu for a Spanish-speaking user who needs to switch
between US English and Latin American layouts, and this was one of the
few stumpers along the way. Working with two layouts in this manner
doesn't appear to be unusual in bilingual communities---this user's
computer had a US keyboard, as that's easiest to buy in the US, but the
user also touch-types with the LatAm layout as that facilitates typing
the various diacritical characters of Spanish.
