I'm using NM 0.6.4-6ubuntu7 and network-manager-openvpn 0.3.2svn2342-ubuntu3, and have the same problem that sebek has. However, The openvpn configuration editor doesn't have a "use peer dns" setting. I think that, if the "Only use this VPN connection for these addresses" is selected, the peer DNS should be just added to the list in resolv.conf. If the VPN is used for all networking, it's DNS should be the only one in resolv.conf.
