** Description changed: I have tried two apps (minicom and smsclient) with to ACM modems, and received 7E1 data does not have the parity bit stripped. I can check with STTY and it shows parenb cs7 -parodd when the port is being used in 7E1 format, but the received data has the parity bit passed through to the app. The ACM modems work fine in 8N1 mode. An ordinary RS232 modem on ttyS0 works fine with both apps using 7E1 format, and the parity bit is stripped from receive data (ie only 7 bits passed to the app). This may be a long standing problem, possibly in the CDC-ACM driver.
